6 Songs Of Me

6 Songs Of Me

My Eyes - Travis Scott

[Pre-Chorus: Justin Vernon]
When I stare in your eyes
You'll be there forever
To watch our life (To watch our life together)
You just like going to Heaven (My heart)
Oh, where are you taking me? (Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, oh, yeah, oh, yeah)
I'm fallin' and I'm drownin'
But you're takin' me

[Chorus: Travis Scott]
One thousand on my feet, stacks spreaded on my seat
Ten thousand on my eyes (Eyes)

[Verse 1: Travis Scott]
Rollie Pollie on my wrist
Gotta make a flight, big day, slummin' no FaceTime
Fifty K, wonderin' why I'm stormin' off, no race
Emboldеned by the bliss
I was sworn in by a kiss
Late from thе country caters
No peacemaker, I sweep up cases
Goin' on a walk with a new suit armor
New suit dead, Bottega, that's on it

Give me the heat from the sleep, then I harm her
Cupid creep in, sleep with a hammer

Three time to get me T-T-T'd
Still same phone, AT&T-T
Still givin' news very vividly
Beefin' up, fuck a beef
Smokin' on some vicious type of reefer
I need no beef, no cheese (Yeah)
Even when I eat, they cheat (Uh)
Every time we meet, na
[Pre-Chorus: Justin Vernon]
When I stare in your eyes
You'll be there forever

To watch our life (To watch our life together)
You just like going to Heav— (My heart)

[Chorus: Travis Scott]
One thousand on my feet, stacks spreaded on my seat
Ten thousand on my eyes (Eyes)

[Verse 2: Sampha]
Yeah, it's mad how it gets so deep
It's mad how I get so high
It's mad how you get me by (By)

[Outro]
Tell me, tell me
Tell me, tell me
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

[Part II]

[Intro]
It's me, it's me, it's me, it's me, it's me

[Verse: Travis Scott]
Look in my eyes, tell me your tale
Do you see the road, the map to my soul?
Look, tell me the signs whenever the smoke clear out of my face
Am I picture-perfect or do I look fried?
All of that green and yellow, that drip from your eyes is tellin'

Tell you demise, I went to my side
To push back the ceilin' and push back the feelings, I had to decide
I replay them nights, and right by my side, all I see is a sea of people that ride wit' me
If they just knew what Scotty would do to jump off the stage and save him a child

The things I created became the most weighted, I gotta find balance and keep me inspired (Hah)
Yeah, yeah
That shit wild, instead I'm a hero
I took it from zero, LaFlame Usain
I run it for miles, this shit wasn't luck

They got me fucked up, I put you on bus and take you around
A couple of guys inside of the school, I gave 'em the tools to get it off ground
They say they the ones when they make the errors
Can't look in the mirror (That shit wild)
I stand on the stage, I give 'em the rage
No turnin' it down, can't tame it, can't follow it
We do in the streets, we do it for keeps
We do it for rights, got fifty-two weeks
This shit ain't for pleasure, I'm comin' to tweak
This shit is forever and infinity
Number eight, yeah, we write it and wrap it around

I take me a bean and I turn to a beast
Bought the crib on a hill, made it harder to reach
Bought a couple more whips 'cause I needed more speed
Bought a couple more watches, I needed more time
Didn't buy the condo, it was smarter to lease
And I bought some more ice 'cause I brought in the heat
Made a cast of my dick, so she never gon' cheat
If I gave you a day in my life or a day in my eyes, don't blink
Recently released on Travis Scott's  album Utopia which already has over 1.1 billion streams in 4 weeks as of the 1st of September, this song really stuck out to me and is my personal favourite on the album. The song has features from various artists in the first half of the song, big artists such as Justin Vernon and Sampha make for a slow, harmonising first half which then switches to a more upbeat and trap feel which is more what he is known for. These mixed together make for a great song that you can listen to in any mood, anywhere. Its a relatable song as Travis talks about his past struggles and controversies and how he was effected by them which is relatable as he comes across as a human just like anyone.

Sometimes - Juice Wrld

[Pre-Chorus]
Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes
Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes
Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes

[Chorus]
I wanna be by my lonely
I pop these Perc' by my lonely
I put in work by my lonely
.40 on me, you know it's my homie, uh
I wanna be by my lonely, uh
I take these Perc' by my lonely, uh
I put in work by my lonely
.40 on me, you know that's my homie

[Refrain]
Oh-oh-oh, there ain't no place like home
I wanna go back home
I hate the world we know
There ain't no place like home
I wanna go back home
I hate the world we know

[Verse 2]
Mind fumblin', fumblin', fumblin', fumblin'
I wonder if, wonder if, wonder if, wonder if
I'm gonna live, gonna live
All these threats that I get from my enemies
Wonder why I keep a .40 right next to me
Scared of niggas runnin' in my vicinity
I'ma be the killer, ain't no one killin' me
That's a better choice like votin' for Hillary
Where I'm from, niggas don't give a fuck
So we loadin' up and shootin' like documentary
Numb to the core
I don't wanna feel shit anymore
I don't wanna feel rich anymore
Know that they want me dead
So I'm takin' meds until I fall on the floor
I don't know who to call anymore
I don't know what to call it anymore

Tears fall like raindrops, but nah, I don't wanna ball anymore
Pick up the rock, score
I pill pop some more
Why? It numbs me inside

I know it ain't right, but it's part of the ride
[Refrain]
Juice Wrld has been my favourite artist for years now, ever since his death back in 2019 at a very young age I got more into his music and even into his unreleased music. This posthumous album which came out in 2021 was made from his label who put together a collection of songs that would make for a mediocre album. Fans, although liking his last posthumous album did not like this one as it just felt rushed for the documentary coming out about his life and his music. Although its nowhere near my favourite album from his discography, this song was incredible. Highlighting his struggles with substance abuse, which was the reason for his death making this song even more deep to listen to now. The production of the song made for a sad song but a very catchy one.

N95 - Kendrick Lamar

[Intro]
Hello, new world, all the boys and girls
I got some true stories to tell

You're back outside, but they still lied
Woah-oh-oh-oh (Yeah)

[Verse 1]
Take off the foo-foo, take off the clout chase, take off the Wi-Fi
Take off the money phone, take off the car loan, take off the flex and the white lies
Take off the weird-ass jewelry, I'ma take ten steps, then I'm taking off top five
Take off them fabricated streams and them microwave memes, it's a real world outside (Take that shit off)
Take off your idols, take off the runway, I take off to Cairo (Take that shit off)
Take off to Saint-Tropez, five-day stay, take a quarter mill', hell, if I know (Take that shit off)

Take off the front flag, take off perception, take off the cop with the eye patch (Take that shit off)
Take off the unloyal, take off the unsure, take off decisions I lack (Take it off)
Take off the fake deep, take off the fake woke, take off the, "I'm broke, I care" (Take it off)
Take off the gossip, take off the new logic that if I'm rich, I'm rare (Take it off)
Take off the Chanel, take off the Dolce, take off the Birkin bag
(Take it off)
Take all that designer bullshit off, and what do you have?

[Chorus]
Bitch, huh, huh, ugh
You ugly as fuck (You outta pocket)

Huh, two ATMs (Hah, hah, hah, hah)
You steppin' or what? (You outta pocket, huh)
Who you think they talk about?
Talk about us (You outta pocket—shoot, shoot, shoot)
Who you think they copy off? (Brrt, brrt, brrt, brrt)
Copy off us (Get back in pocket)
[Verse 2]
The world in a panic, the women is stranded, the men on a run
The prophets abandoned, the law take advantage, the market is crashin', the industry wants
Niggas and bitches to sleep in a box while they makin' a mockery followin' us
This ain't Monopoly, watchin' for love, this ain't monogamy, y'all gettin' fucked

Jumpin' on what the hell is that? I gotta relax when I feel (Huh, facts)
All my descendants, they come in my sleep and say I am too real (Huh, facts)
I'm done with the sensitive, takin' it personal, done with the black and the white, the wrong and the right
You hopin' for change and clericals, I know the feelings that came with burial's cries

[Chorus]
Bitch, huh, huh, ugh
You ugly as fuck
 (You outta pocket)
Huh, two ATMs (Hah, hah, hah, hah)
You steppin' or what? (You outta pocket, huh)
Who you think they talk about?
Talk about us (You outta pocket—shoot, shoot, shoot)
Who you think they copy off? (Brrt, brrt, brrt, brrt)
Copy off us

[Bridge]
Servin' up a look, dancin' in a drought
Hello to the big stepper, never losin' count
Ventin' in the safe house
Ventin' in the sa—
[Verse 3: Kendrick Lamar & Baby Keem]

Can I vent all my truth? I got nothin' to lose, I got problems and pools, I can swim on my faith
Cameras movin' whenever I'm movin', the family suin' whatever I make
Murder is stackin', the president actin', the government taxin' my funds in the bank
Homies attracting the feds when I'm bracking, look at my reaction, my pupils on skates (Hold up, hold up)
Let's think about this for a second (Let's go)
Tell me what you would do for aesthetic (Let's go)
Would you sell your soul on credit? (Let's go)
Would you sell your bro for leverage? (Let's go)
Where the hypocrites at?
What community feel they the only ones relevant? (Let's go)
Where the hypocrites at?
What community feel they the only ones relevant? (Let's go)

[Outro]
Huh, huh, ugh
You outta pocket, yeah, you outta pocket (This shit hard)
You entertain the mediocre, need to stop it (This shit hard)
You entertainin' old friends when they toxic (This shit hard)
What your life like? Bullshit and gossip (This shit hard)
What the fuck is cancel culture, dawg?
Say what I want about you niggas, I'm like Oprah, dawg
I treat you crackers like I'm Jigga, watch, I own it all

Oh, you worried 'bout a critic? That ain't protocol (Bitch)
N95 is the intro song to his latest album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers which came out in 2022. It stuck with me on the first listen of the album and then seeing the song played live at his tour in the 02 arena in Glasgow made it so much better. The hype he brought to the stage when performing made it one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The song is a personal favourite of mine as it stands out more than the other songs on the album being one of the only hype songs and has an amazing music video he released with it.

Particles - Nothing But Thieves

[Verse 1]
It's been like a year since I've been home
Flirting with an addiction I can't shake off
My mouth is dry, I self-medicate
This comedown won't cure itself

[Pre-Chorus]
It's driving you away
It's driving you away
Piece by piece
Day by day

[Chorus]
Baby, tell me if I'm being strange
And if I need to rearrange
My particles
I will for you
My particles
I will for you

[Verse 2]
And I'm a shadow of a ghost
It's feeling as if somebody has taken host
Babe, I don't wanna make a scene
But I get self-destructive
[Pre-Chorus]
And it's driving you away
It's driving you away
Piece by piece
Day by day

[Chorus]
Baby, tell me if I'm being strange
And if I need to rearrange
My particles
I will for you

[Bridge]
Oh, doctor please
This don't feel right
Oh, can you give me something
To get me through the night?

Oh, if it all falls apart
And if this thing goes wrong
Oh, put me back together
However you want

My mind plays tricks
And I don't sleep no more
And doctor, please
I can't switch off
[Chorus]
Baby, tell me if I'm being strange
And if I need to rearrange
My particles
I will for you
My particles
I will for you
The first time I heard this I was playing music on speaker when on a long bike ride with my mates. i never fully appreciated rock music until this song randomly came up on the playlist me and my mates had created. I instantly liked the song and the next few days after that I got hooked onto nothing but thieves. The song features on their broken machine album that came out all the way back in 2017. I listened to every one of their albums and liked them so much that I ended up booking tickets for a concert of theirs in the 02 academy in Glasgow in November. The chorus on this song is what makes the song so good as the lead singer has an amazing voice. To this day it's still my favourite song they have released and it has not gotten me more into rock music as a result.

NDA - Billie Eilish

[Chorus]
Similar to the nothing but thieves story this song randomly came on when i was listening to music. It was completely different to what i was used to as i had never listened to Billie Eilish before but in was pleasantly surprised coming across this song. The song is on her happier than ever album which came out in 2021 so i was late in hearing it as i only listened to this a couple months ago. This is the song that got me into her music more, listening to her whole discography afterwards as she now slowly climbs up my top listened to artists list this year. The songs production stands out to me more than anything as FINNEAS is one of the best producers in my opinion.

Family Ties - Kendrick Lamar & Baby Keem

[Intro: Baby Keem]
Jump in that— (Hah, Hah), summon that bitch
Jump in that— (Hah, hah), jump in that fire (Hah), jump in that bitch

Hittin' that fire, jump in that whip, thumb in that bitch
Cum in that bitch (Ho), drummin' that— (Hah, hah)
Drummin' that bitch (Yeah)

[Verse: Baby Keem]
Choppa doin' circles, it's a Bird, Bird
Take him to the party, he's a nerd (Pop out)
I ain't seen niggas hit corners in the motherfuckin' 'burbs, huh (Pop out)
Done politickin' with the competition, what's the word? (Yeah)
Put that on my mama, nigga, eight in the process
Niggas tryna tippy-toe through the progress
Tongue-tied when the truth is an object
What's the pros and the cons of this next check?
Wasn't nobody 'round, I was independent

In the '90s, sittin' bum with the windows tinted
Heard a bum got a strap in the party
Who the fuck let this **** in the party?
Beat 'em up, beat 'em up, beat 'em up, beat 'em up (Ah)
I was seein' double in the projects
Mad at myself, learned to put it to the side
Mama had to cater for the coupe
That we rode after school on the way to Popeyes
And niggas wanna play both sides
It's a red dot, don't get on the wrong red eye
It's a headshot, Damien Kane, woo, them guys

Fuck around and bury two of them guys
I'm OD in Paris, I'm OD in France
I thought that I told you, I need the advance
Put down your IG and look through my lens
A million to grandma, who did I offend?
The girl of your dreams to me is a fan
I netted ten million and did a lil' dance
I'm fuckin' the world, I unzip my pants
My uncle G told me that I had a chance
So then I popped out and did it again
And did it again and did it again
I can not respect them, where did he begin?
Advice from the council, let nobody in
Been swervin' through rumors
Avoidin' the trends and duckin' the hoes
I'm duckin' the loonies that come with the shows
I'm grateful to Man-Man, he opened up doors
A bunk on the tour bus to come and compose

I reach to the stars on my tippy toes
This greatest success where most niggas fold
I tell you my past, that shit don't get old
But how could you ask like I don't be writin' my raps?
These critics got everyone tapped
You gotta relax, the city where nobody sleep
Just tap in and ask where I'm at, ho
[Intro: Kendrick Lamar]
Smokin' on your top five tonight, tonight
Yeah, I'm smokin' on your, what's his name, tonight, tonight

Smokin' on you, shores, ain't two-nine, yeah, two

[Verse: Kendrick Lamar]
I am the omega, pgLang, Rollie gang, SIE
Don't you address me unless it's with four letters
I thought you'd known better
I been duckin' the pandemic, I been—, social gimmicks
I been duckin' the overnight activists, yeah
I'm not a trending topic, I'm a—

Hold on, y'all niggas playin' with me, man
I am the omega, pgLang, Rollie gang, SIE
Don't you address me unless it's with four letters
Bitch, I thought you'd known better
I been duckin' the pandemic, I been duckin' the social gimmicks
I been duckin' the overnight activists, yeah
I'm not a trending topic, I'm a prophet

I answer to Metatron and Gabriel
Bitch, looking for a better me

I am a legacy, I come from the seventy
The Al Green offspring, guns and the melody

The big shot, wrist on cryotherapy
Soon as I press that button
Nigga better get right like the ambulance comin'

Us two ain't alike, he ain't been through nothin'
Dave Free got at least one B in the oven

I'm trippin', I'm juugin', my mental is amazing, brother
Pop off, only on occasions, brother
Rich nigga, momma know I made it, brother
Go figure, never caught cases, brother
Face it, brother, gracious brother
New flows comin', be patient, brother
Show my ass and take y'all to class
I can multitask like Megan, brother

2021, I ain't takin' no prisoner
Last year, y'all fucked up all the listener
Who went platinum? I call that a visitor
Who the fuck backin' 'em? All been falsified

The facts mean this a vaccine and the game need me to survive
The Elohim, the rebirth
Before you get to the Father, you gotta holla at me first, bitch
Smokin' on top fives
Motherfuck that album, fuck that single
Burn that hard drive (Burn that shit)
Ain't nobody safe
When I come, I'm killin' everybody that's outside (Who you with?)
Yeah, Kanye changed his life
But me, I'm still an old-school Gemini (Lil' bitch)
Let me jump in this bitch
[Outro: Baby Keem & Kendrick Lamar]
Let me jump in this bitch
Two phones, but I only bring one in this bitch
One daughter, but they all my sons in this bitch
No hoes, ain't shit gettin' done in this bitch
I'm scary, I got a gun in this bitch
Smokin' on top fives
Stop playin', I'm that guy

Number two DM'ing my bitch
That's cool, I don't ask why
Another Kendrick Lamar song although this time its a collaboration song on Baby Keem's album The Melodic Blue released in 2021. I listened to this album a year later than everyone so I was late to the song but nonetheless its still talked about to this day. Kendrick and Keem are actually cousins so they have a close chemistry when making songs. What makes this song so good is the implementation of the trumpets in the background which is an interesting twist that isn't seen much in modern rap. The song is the ultimate party song and will instantly hype you up.
